The Rainbow Obstacle (1911) by Moriz Jung
A plane crashes dramatically against a rainbow as a man below shields his eyes. Jung blends humour and chaos to create a surreal, almost comic-strip vision of modern life.
Moriz Jung (1885–1915) was a Czech-born Austrian illustrator and graphic designer, one of the brightest young talents of the Wiener Werkstätte in Vienna.
In a short life cut off by World War I, he created bold, witty posters and prints that still feel startlingly modern.
Each one is like a little story caught mid-scene, full of wit, tenderness and quiet drama on your wall.
