Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797–1861), is of the most celebrated artists of late Edo Japan. He’s famous for bold storytelling and dramatic compositions, especially warrior prints, but he was just as brilliant at capturing small human moods, humour, and the calm intensity of ordinary life.
About Ukiyo-e
Ukiyo-e refers to Japanese woodblock prints that flourished in the Edo period.
