La Chaîne Simpson (1896) by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the great observer of bohemian Paris, created this ICONIC 1896 poster for the Simpson bicycle chain, starring champion racer Constant Huret at the Vélodrome de la Seine with Lisette Marton close behind.
Bold colour, tilted bodies and sweeping lines make the track feel like it’s moving under their wheels. On a wall, it’s more than an advert- it’s a flash of 1890s Parisian speed and style.
