Hungary, the early 1930s. Klára Szepessy sits in a pale dress, framed by floral upholstery and a yellow-green background.

Sher-Gil painted her Hungarian cousin during the period when she moved between family visits and art school in Paris. Loose strokes and the sitter's turned head give a conventional seated portrait an unsettled, immediate presence.

The pale dress and floral upholstery bring a softer note to a bedroom or portrait gallery wall. Available with a choice of frames, this art print makes a thoughtful home decor gift for a housewarming or a festive visit.
