Sumair Art Print by Amrita Sher-Gil | Indian Wall Art

Sumair (1936) by Amrita Sher-Gil

India, 1936. Sumair sits in a green floral sari, her gaze directed beyond the frame. Pink borders and large earrings punctuate the deep greens.

The sitter was Sher-Gil's cousin, one of the relatives she painted alongside friends and fellow artists. Colour, pattern and an unsmiling expression make this portrait feel personal without revealing the sitter's thoughts.

Sumair's deep greens and pink sari borders work beautifully with plants, warm wood and patterned textiles. Choose this Indian art print for living room decor, or as a Diwali gift for an art lover furnishing a home of their own.
