Die Drama (1912) by Moriz Jung (1910s)

Die Drama (1912) by Moriz Jung (1910s)

A brooding man with a cigarette and tilted hat plays the part of a dramatic tough guy. Jung exaggerates posture and expression to capture Vienna’s eccentric everyday characters.

Moriz Jung (1885–1915) was a Czech-born Austrian illustrator and graphic designer, one of the brightest young talents of the Wiener Werkstätte in Vienna.

In a short life cut off by World War I, he created bold, witty posters and prints that still feel startlingly modern.

Each one is like a little story caught mid-scene, full of wit, tenderness and quiet drama on your wall.
